Halloween 2008 was particularly sweet for Metro Dentalcare.

Aiming to educate parents on the importance of home dental care and sweet treats in moderation, Metro Dentalcare hosted a candy buyback, offering kids one dollar for each pound of candy they turned in at participating clinics. RMPR shared the delectable deal with parents through a media relations campaign.

Metro DentalAlternatives to having kids eat several pounds of candy proved to be appealing, and in the days surrounding the event, Metro Dentalcare dentist Melissa Naidyhorski, coached for media appearances, shared the importance of good brushing technique and provided suggestions for non-sugary Halloween treats with local media outlets.

The candy buyback had a great turnout, and the three participating Metro Dentalcare clinics collected a whopping 800 lbs. of Halloween candy, which was donated to local Ronald McDonald House and Second Harvest Heartland charities. The sweetest success? The clinics welcomed new families as patients – a cherry on top, indeed.
