Rose McKinney, APR
President
In her current role as president of Risdall McKinney Public Relations, Rose strives to create alignment between client and employee satisfaction. Each day, Rose touches client service, new business, agency operations, professional development and brand-reputation. Client work currently includes leading a consumer-awareness campaign promoting the energy-efficient benefits of awnings and the development of a thought-leadership program for Vision-Ease Lens and its sustainability initiative. Additionally, she serves on the board of directors for the Risdall Marketing Group and its 14 divisions.
Illustrating her ongoing industry leadership, Rose teaches public relations students at Metropolitan State University in Minneapolis, and in 2007, Rose served as president of the Minnesota Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Prior to forming Risdall McKinney, Rose was vice president at Karwoski & Courage Public Relations, an Omnicom affiliate. A member of the Agency’s senior leadership team, she was responsible for directing client-service initiatives, providing strategic counsel, and leading significant consumer and business-to-business, marketing-oriented public relations campaigns including Onan Generators/Cummins Power Generation, International Dairy Queen/Orange Julius, Polaris Industries and a successful, heartwarming initiative called “Put Children First,” which saved the Twin Cities Shriners Hospital from being closed and was named PR Week magazine’s 2005 Healthcare Campaign of the Year.
Adding to her leadership experience, Rose headed the public relations department at the Foley Group (formerly Foley Sackett) where she was responsible for integrating PR within all aspects of marketing communication. The PR team created award-winning campaigns for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, Medica, MedAdvisor/Schering-Plough Pharmaceutical and a historic Millennium celebration, “Continental Harmony,” for American Composers Forum.
Rose has served community organizations such as the Minnesota Zoo, Junior League, The Woman’s Club, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the Salvation Army. She received the Accredited Public Relations (APR) designation from the Universal Accreditation Board in 2002 and is a 1987 graduate of Drake University. In 2006, she was named one of 25 Women to Watch by the Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal. Rose lives in Brooklyn Park with her husband and three children.
