Calif. PR Industry Recognizes Minnesota’s Risdall McKinney Public Relations

Media kit created for flat-panel mount manufacturer named top winner in two categories

NEW BRIGHTON, MINN. – The Orange County chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) honored Risdall McKinney Public Relations (RMPR) for its work for Premier Mounts, an Anaheim-based manufacturer of display mounts for flat-panel TVs. RMPR received two awards at the 33rd Annual PROTOS Awards Gala in Orange County, Calif., in June.

RMPR received an Award of Excellence for the multi-media presentation category for “Rockin’ the House for 30 Years, Celebrating Premier Mounts’ Past, Present and Future” – an anniversary timeline video featured at the company’s anniversary party at InfoComm 2007. RMPR also received a PROTOS Award in the hard copy press kits category for “I ♥ 1977” - Premier Mounts’ commemorative media kit for InfoComm 2007.

“The 30th Anniversary celebration was an enormous success for Premier Mounts,” said Jim Hall, vice president of marketing for Premier Mounts. “Risdall McKinney created and implemented an outstanding public relations plan and developed a top-notch media kit that our trade editors thoroughly enjoyed – as did we.”

The 1977-themed media kit proved to be a catalyst for a significant amount of editor interest and trade show media coverage as Premier Mounts’ coverage in the six months following InfoComm increased 71 percent. The significance of clips increased dramatically with company profiles in SCN and CEPro, and bylined articles in ProAV, S&VC and Residential Systems.

Premier Mounts’ 30th Anniversary Commemorative Lunch Box Media Kit captured the nostalgia of 1977 and was distributed as part of the larger 30th Anniversary and 2007 InfoComm trade show media relations campaign.

Tying into the party theme, RMPR used vintage 1977 metal lunch boxes to hold materials included the following:
• Customized school notebooks contained company background, historical photos, news releases and spokesperson bios. A table of contents replicated a class schedule, and a font with a handwritten appearance was used.
• Electronic kits and the Timeline video of Premier’s history were on a CD designed to resemble a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and inserted in a plastic sandwich bag.
• Handwritten “thank you” note from company founder, Len Dozier (styled to look like a note from mom) thanked media for celebrating the anniversary.
• Premier-branded water bottles, sugar cookie, lanyard and anniversary button reinforced the company identity.

In addition to receiving a PROTOS award, the media kit entry also received a PRSA Bronze Anvil award and received a Minnesota PRSA Classics Award for “Best Media Kit (Events).”
