Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation
The Minneapolis Heart Institute’s founding physicians recognized that the finest heart care for patients needed to be supported by an enduring commitment to education and research. Together with devoted community leaders, in 1982 they established the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF). The platform for these endeavors was conceived and dedicated to enhancing patient care and the length and quality of life by fostering an environment of cooperative inquiry and improvement.
October 28, 2006, marked the annual MHIF gala, spotlighting women's heart health. With expectations set high for the 2006 Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, it was time for a new approach that engaged physicians, donors and the community. A fun, energetic, and inspirational event, this year’s “Follow Your Heart” gala had attendance of over 800 people, increased the number of $25k-plus sponsorships, raised over $850,000 (compared to $125,000 in 2005), increased physician participation by 50%, and generated substantial visibility with ads, PSAs and local media coverage.
